Sabine Wren

Sabine Wren is a Mandalorian warrior who fought the Empire as part of the Ghost crew. Her signature graffiti art inspired the symbol of the Rebel Alliance. , Sabine Wren and her brother, , were raised to appreciate both fine art and the art of combat. In her youth, Sabine enrolled as a cadet at the Imperial Academy of . There, the confident young creator designed an Arc Pulse Generator, a powerful weapon that could target entire legions of soldiers and bring them to their knees. But when Wren realized what the Empire planned to do with her work and began to understand the ramifications her knack for engineering could have on the world around her, Sabine destroyed the plans and fled in shame. Labeled a traitor by the Empire and her family, Clan Wren, Sabine took odd jobs as a bounty hunter to survive before joining the , as well as their Lasat friend team — codenamed the Spectres — found new purpose as part of a growing movement of rebel cells working separately across the galaxy. As Spectre-5, Sabine used her formidable skills to help those in need and sow the seeds of dissidence that would ultimately lead to the Empire’s fall. As an artist, Sabine expressed herself with ever-evolving hairstyles and one-of-a-kind armor. She delighted in repainting stark white Imperial armor and the regime’s hulking gray machines, turning the Empire’s tools into expressions of freedom, hope, and resilience. And as the rebellion grew, Sabine and the , then the larger Alliance to Restore the Republic led by Senator . The affiliation brought Sabine into contact with high-profile advocates for peace, including young and the Fulcrum agent and former Sabine never forgot her past. On an undercover mission infiltrating an Imperial Academy, the teen helped a young cadet named Wedge Antilles defect to the burgeoning rebellion; Antilles’ piloting skills were later integral to rebel victories at the Battle of Yavin and the Battle of Endor. Sabine and Kanan also successfully recruited the Mandalorian and the warriors of Concord Dawn to their cause. And after she recovered the Darksaber, the legendary weapon of the Mandalorians, on Dathomir, Sabine reluctantly trained to wield the blade in the hopes of uniting her people against the Empire. Sabine was guided in the ways of the Jedi by Kanan and Ezra and aided by Rau, embracing both the legacy of the weapon crafted and once carried by the first Mandalorian Jedi Tarre Vizsla and her own heritage as a proud Mandalorian warrior. However, Sabine struggled with the mantle of leadership and the mistakes of her past. On a mission to rescue her father from Imperial imprisonment, Sabine and the rest of Clan Wren came up against a powerful weapon — the very device that Sabine had helped design in her youth. In the hands of Governor Tiber Saxon, and under orders from and the Empire, the powerful Arc Pulse Generator turned every Mandalorian warrior and their beskar within range of the blast to ash. Sabine was able to use her engineering prowess to turn the weapon against the Empire, targeting stormtrooper armor instead of Mandalorian , before she destroyed the generator with the Darksaber. Afterward, she gave the saber to its rightful owner, the true leader of Mandalore Lady crew’s fight was far from over. After Kanan Jarrus died to save his friends, the Spectres returned to Lothal to free Ezra Bridger’s homeworld from the Empire. At the Battle of , Ezra succeeded in harnessing the power of the noble purrgil creatures to whisk Thrawn and his ship into hyperspace. In a final message to his friends, Ezra left Sabine a cryptic note: “Don’t forget. I’m counting on you.” In the years that followed, Sabine Wren watched over her friend’s beloved homeworld as Lothal reclaimed its identity after the fall of the Empire, painting a mural in memory of her family and their time on the world. For a time, Sabine trained in the ways of the Jedi under Master Ahsoka Tano, despite displaying no natural abilities with the Force and wielding the borrowed lightsaber that was built by her lost friend, Ezra. When the Empire laid waste to Sabine’s homeworld, her family was killed among the countless warriors in the Great Purge. Wren survived, but Ahsoka feared her student would become dangerous and vengeful. With their partnership and trust fractured, Ahsoka walked away. Sabine watched over her friend’s beloved homeworld as Lothal reclaimed its identity in the New Republic, painting a mural in memory of her family. She made a home for herself in the tower that had once been Ezra’s abode, and made friends with a Loth-cat named Murley. And several years after the fall of the Empire, Tano returned to ask Sabine for help unlocking a star map with clues to the far off galaxy where Thrawn and Bridger were believed to have vanished. After mercenaries stole the map and gravely injured Sabine, she cut her long hair and suited up in her Mandalorian armor, reinvigorated for a battle. They followed the mercenaries, led by Morgan Elsbeth, to the world of . Believing Ahsoka to be dead after she lost a battle with Baylan Skoll, Sabine joined Elsbeth and her crew aboard , Sabine was freed from captivity, riding a into the wilderness and battling bandits. Soon, she discovered the people, and Sabine was reunited with her friend, Ezra Bridger, living among them. With the arrival of Ahsoka Tano, the trio stormed the Great Mothers’ fortress to try to quash Thrawn’s plans to return from whence he came. In battle with the Night Troopers, Sabine was able to access her connection to the Force to call her lightsaber to her hand in a desperate attempt to survive. Then she harnessed the energy to help push Ezra onto Thrawn’s star destroyer just as the enemy was preparing to depart. But Sabine did not join Bridger onboard. They were eventually able to establish a rebel stronghold, named Chopper Base, on the planet of Among Ezra’s many abilities, the young apprentice found he could connect with creatures like the mighty , asking these beings for assistance in times of trouble. However, they became targets of the Inquisitorius, a fearsome group of Jedi hunters in search of Force users who had evaded the purge of Order 66. After Kanan and Ezra bested the Grand Inquisitor in battle, and his Jedi hunters continued their pursuit in earnest. Although Ezra’s interests expanded, including a brief foray into the life of a pirate with Hondo Ohnaka, he never forgot where he came from. Bridger recorded a heartfelt broadcast to the people of Lothal, which in turn inspired the prison break in which his parents were killed. In the Jedi temple on Lothal, Ezra sought guidance from a vision of , which led him and his friends to a fateful battle on Malachor. After joining forces with a mysterious being known as the Old Master, the former Sith Lord who tricked Ezra into unlocking a Sith holocron. In the battle that erupted afterward, Kanan was blinded by Maul’s lightsaber blade, and Ezra and Kanan narrowly escaped with their lives, leaving Ahsoka Tano behind to duel Darth Vader alone as the temple collapsed. What followed were troubling times for the crew. The dark side was alluring to the young orphan, who sought justice and answers that his Jedi teachers had been unable to help him attain. On , Ezra and Maul used Nightsister magicks to complete a shared vision that began with the merging of the Jedi and Sith holocrons. The quest led them to , where Maul sought a final duel with the hermit , after which Ezra returned to his found family to continue to fight the Empire. A new threat then emerged — the Empire’s Chiss strategist . Ezra grew into a young leader and after the siege of Atollan the crew focused their efforts back on freeing Lothal, where the Imperial occupation had worsened in their absence. With the help of the local rebels and the ISB operative-turned-spy , Ezra and the Spectres uncovered evidence that the Empire was collecting large quantities of kyber crystals for something nefarious and helped plot to destroy the TIE defender prototype factory on Bridger’s homeworld. The assault on the Imperial factory forever changed the crew, after Hera was captured and Kanan was killed while saving the rest of his team. Adrift without his Master, Ezra found solace in the that wandered the plains of Lothal and spoke the name — Kanan’s moniker during the time of the Jedi. The wolves led Ezra to a mysterious portal, which sent him to the . There he was able to save Ahsoka Tano at a crucial moment during her battle with Darth Vader on . The Jedi counseled young Bridger to learn to let go when another portal showed him the moment Kanan Jarrus sacrificed his life for the greater good. Back on Lothal, Ezra led a pack of Loth-wolves to best and the other Imperial intruders on his homeworld and later surrendered to Thrawn to save his planet and friends. Ezra was taken prisoner aboard Thrawn’s flagship, the . As the final Battle of Lothal unfolded between the rebels and the Empire, a pod of majestic purrgil arrived to decimate the fleet and transport Thrawn, Ezra, and their ship into hyperspace. With one final message to his found family encouraging them to keep up the fight, Ezra Bridger was lost. Exiled to another galaxy, Bridger found a home among the people, a stranger in the strange land of Peridea. Then one day, his friend Sabine Wren arrived to rescue him. Although she succeeded, helping him to stowaway aboard Thrawn’s Star Destroyer once more, and Ezra was reunited with Hera Syndulla and Chopper, Ahsoka Tano and Wren were left behind in the process.

Princess Leia Organa

Shortly after Anakin’s turn to the dark side and a violent attack on Padmé, the Senator went into labor, but something was wrong: according to medical droids, she had lost the will to live. She gave birth to twins -- and Leia -- before dying. Leia was taken in by Senator , a friend of Padmé’s and an ally of the Jedi, and raised as his daughter on At an early age, much was expected of Princess Leia Organa. She’d have much rather escaped into the wooded palace grounds to watch incoming starships than sit through ceremony, however. As a member of the Royal House of Alderaan, she became a fixture at royal receptions until kidnappers absconded with the young girl. Acting on a call for help from her parents, Ben Kenobi rescued Leia, first from the streets of , and later from a harrowing torture chamber in the heart of the Fortress Inquisitorius. Although she would long remember their eventful adventure, the future rebel hero carefully guarded knowledge of Kenobi’s location and his very existence until her most desperate hour. In her teens, Leia led a secret mission on behalf of her father: delivering three cruisers to the rebels. She brought the ships to under the Senate-approved guise of a relief mission for the citizenry, but instead worked with the to stage a theft of the craft. While there were some hiccups, the Princess showed a strong sense of leadership and fearlessness, and the operation proved a success. Leia continued secretly working to undermine the . When the Rebellion became aware of the , a small band absconded to where they daringly stole schematics of the battle station. The data tapes were beamed to a rebel ship and barely passed to the , where Organa received them. When asked what the transmission was, Organa simply replied: "Hope." Aboard her ambassadorial vessel, , Princess Leia Organa was custodian of stolen plans to the ultimate weapon. While Leia was a member of the Imperial Senate, she was also one of the most dedicated leaders. Her ship was boarded by and Imperial forces, but she managed to hide the schematics and a message in the droid , who escaped alongside his counterpart . Leia, however, was captured by and confronted by Vader, who didn’t believe her claim that the ship was on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan. , one of the Empire’s highest ranking officers, held Leia prisoner on the Death Star. They sought to recover the stolen data tapes and uncover the location of the hidden Rebel base, though they knew Leia would never give up its location voluntarily. As such, Vader used an to try and extract the information, but Leia was able to resist. Tarkin, however, found another form of persuasion: he would threaten to destroy her home planet of Alderaan unless she divulged the whereabouts of the base. Reluctantly, Leia confessed that it was Dantooine; Tarkin nefariously continued with the attack, looking to display the Death Star’s might. The Princess protested, but Tarkin and Vader would not listen. Alderaan was destroyed. But the Rebels still had time -- the Dantooine base had been abandoned long ago, which Leia knew, and the Alliance really resided on Her situation seemingly dire, events would soon unfold that would change Leia’s fate and that of the galaxy. As it turns out, the message she hid inside R2-D2 was delivered on , Jedi Master and a general in the Clone Wars who knew her father. Obi-Wan arrived on the Death Star with Luke Skywalker, , and the two droids to rescue her. Luke reached Leia’s cell first, dressed in disguise as one of the Empire’s foot soldiers. “Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?” she asked. Taking off his helmet, Luke introduced himself and the two quickly left. But by this time, stormtroopers had found the ragtag group, and Han, Chewie, Luke, and Leia were forced to jump into a trash compactor to hide. Han and Leia immediately clashed, with the Princess having little patience for his bravado. When the walls of the compactor began to close in, all seemed lost until R2-D2 was able to remotely shut them down. The group made their way back to Han’s ship, the , though Obi-Wan Kenobi fell in battle to Darth Vader. They escaped, but little did they know that Vader had placed a tracking device on their ship. Leia and her rescuers rendezvoused with the Alliance on Yavin 4, where she delivered the Death Star plans. As the Rebels prepped their attack on the space station, Han and Chewie collected their reward for saving the Princess and were readying to leave. Luke and Leia were disappointed in Han’s decision, but carried on. Meanwhile, having successfully tracked the Falcon to Yavin 4, the Death Star closed in. The attack began, with Luke piloting an , Leia monitoring in the command center, and Han long gone. As the Death Star readied to destroy to Yavin 4 and the Rebel Alliance with it, Han saved Luke by blasting the trailing his X-wing; Luke fired a proton torpedo into the Death Star’s exhaust port, destroying the planet-sized terror. Han, Chewie, and Luke returned to the base where Leia warmly greeted them, and later presented them medals for their bravery. After the destruction of the Death Star, the Rebel Alliance relocated to , a remote ice world. Leia remained a key figure in the fight for freedom, and her feelings for Han had developed -- though he could still drive her crazy. “You stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder!” she called him in a heated exchange. After the Empire discovered their location, Leia oversaw the Alliance’s evacuation and was forced to leave with Han aboard the Millennium Falcon. Leia, Han, Chewbacca, and C-3PO evaded the Empire by heading into an asteroid field -- a dangerous move that only the daring captain of the Millennium Falcon would attempt. It worked, and Han docked his ship inside a cave within one of the larger rock masses. In a quiet moment, the smuggler and the Princess finally kissed -- only to be interrupted by C-3PO, who was excited to inform them that he’d isolated the ship’s reverse power flux coupling. The group later headed to , home of Han’s old friend Upon arrival, Leia was skeptical of Lando -- he seemed a little too friendly. Her misgivings would prove true, as Lando handed his new guests over to Darth Vader and , claiming they arrived just before the Falcon. Han was tortured by Vader and Leia was held prisoner, all part of a trap to lure Luke Skywalker. The Sith Lord planned to carbon-freeze Luke, but would test the dangerous procedure on Han. Before being lowered into the freezing chamber, Leia told Han that she loved him. “I know,” he replied, and was then frozen into a carbonite slab. He survived the process, and Vader demanded Leia and Chewbacca be taken to his ship. While en route, Lando took a risk and had his security forces disarm their stormtrooper escort, and led Leia, Chewie, and C-3PO in a last ditch attempt to save Han. They were too late, but managed to flee in the Falcon. Luke, who came to face Vader, was severely injured and only survived by reaching out through the Force to Leia. The Princess commanded they return to rescue him; while the heroes were defeated, they survived to fight another day. With Han frozen in carbonite and held in on Tatooine, the Princess and her friends planned a rescue mission. Leia, disguised as bounty hunter Boushh, brought a captive Chewbacca before . She collected a bounty of 35,000 credits, and later that evening snuck quietly to Han’s carbonite slab. She unfroze the smuggler and revealed her identity to him as “someone who loves you.” They kissed and were ready to make their escape, but were interrupted by an ominous laugh; Jabba knew it was Leia the whole time. He threw Han in a cell with Chewbacca, and forced Leia to wear a slave girl outfit and remain by his side. But all was not lost. Luke appeared, and in Jabba’s botched execution of the Rebels above the pit, decimated the crime lord’s forces. In the ensuing chaos, Leia used the chain tethering her to Jabba to choke the giant gangster. He died in a pitiful slump, and Leia and her friends left Tatooine and headed for the stars. The Princess and the others rendezvoused with the Rebel fleet and helped organize a plan to destroy the Empire’s new and knock out the space station’s shield generator, while fighters would enter the super structure and take down the main reactor. Using a stolen , Leia and friends landed on the forest moon but quickly encountered Imperial . Luke and Leia commandeered and defeated the troopers in a deadly chase and battle, but were separated. The Princess, alone, encountered a strange, furry being -- an . He took her to his village, where she would remain until Han, Luke, Chewie, and Artoo showed up as captives (Threepio was mistaken for a god by the primitive species). After being freed, she and Luke had a private discussion away from the others where he made a startling revelation: they were actually brother and sister. Instead of shock, Leia seemed at peace. “I know,” she said. “Somehow, I’ve always known.” Luke went off to face Darth Vader, and Han and Leia led the ground assault on the shield generator. Always brave, Leia more than held her own, blasting stormtroopers left and right. While she was wounded, her injury wasn’t serious; and with help from their new furry friends, the Rebels defeated the Imperial legion of troops. The shield was destroyed, as was the Death Star and the . Luke turned Vader back to the light side and reunited with Leia, Han, and their friends on Endor -- together again with the battle for freedom finally over. , Leia trained as a Jedi with Luke, but left the Jedi path after sensing it would result in the death of her son.
